During the last few years it has grown into a vibrant and attractive tourist resort.
The village has a variety of accommodation from luxurious hotels, fine apartments and villas to pensions and rooms.

Holiday makers are drawn here because of its beautiful location in a small bay with Karga, a small island which is a paradise for fishing and a haven for birds, crystal clear water and sandy
beaches.
A motorboot-trip tothe under water caves of Plaka from Almyrida is possible as well.

The area is a perfect centre for cyclers and
walkers, both evening strollers and serious
ramblers, with paths to neighbouring villages
and into the hinterland.

The beachside restaurants are the best in the region and are famous for their excellent food and fresh fish and there are also café-bars, supermarkets and a variety of interesting shops.
The holiday maker will find surfboards, sailingboats and
katamarans for rent and a sailing school.
