Above the roofs of the sea side resort of Georgioupolis and at the edge of the picturesque village of Exopolis, there are the Studios and Apartments IRIDA, built for those who like to swim and also those who like to discover Crete by foot or by car.
Here, since 1997 the Blasakis family pampers guests with Cretan hospitality in a cosy atmosphere.

In the family tavern visitors can taste authentic Cretan products. You can try kagianas, moussaka, tzatziki, souvlaki, gyros and much more.

The village of Georgioupolis, just 2,5 km away, is a popular vacation resort with a great long beach and an idyllic harbour with little fishing boats. It is located at the Northern coast of the island, between Chania (35 km) and Rethymnon (25 km), right by the National Road providing a very good connection by public transport.

A fishing village up to 1990 or so, it was discovered by the first holidaymakers and has been transformed into a popular holiday destination over the past 15 years, without loosing its original charm and tranquillity. The river Almyros with its slightly salted water, united with the river of Vrisses, reaches here the sea, forming a larger river where small sailing-boats can enter. Old eucalyptus trees and the river that flows into the sea, create a distinctive and unique ambiance (it is a wildlife refuge). At a distance of about 5 Km there is the Lake Kournas that is well worth a visit.

There are many touristic facilities and shops for every taste in Georgioupolis. You can buy traditional products at very good prices! Sometimes beach parties with DJs and bands outside of the village are organized. Every year, there are several happenings and celebrations in Georgioupolis.

Because of its location, Georgioupolis is a starting point with a great choice for excursions in Western Crete and all over the island.

We are waiting for you!
Welcome to Crete!
Costas Blasakis
