The town of Georgioupolis is just minutes away from our hotel. Georgioupolis is located right by the national road between Chania and Rethymnon. There is very good connection by public transport. There are many shops for every taste. You can buy traditional products at very good prices! There are also several bars and discos. Sometimes here they organize beach parties with DJs and bands outside of the village. It is a popular vacation resort with a great long beach and an idyllic harbour with little fishing boats at the north coast of the island, between the cities of Chania and Rethymnon . A fishing village up to 1990 or so, it was discovered and has been transformed into a popular holiday destination over the past 15 years, without losing its original charm and tranquillity. The river of Almyros , with its slightly salted water, united with the river of Vrisses, reached the sea, forming thus a larger river where small sailing-boats could enter the inner parts of the area. Old eucalyptus trees and the river that flows into the sea, create a distinctive and unique ambiance (it is a wildlife refuge). As for the location it is a great choice as a starting point for excursions into western Crete. At a distance of about 5 Km from Georgioupoli lies the Kournas sweet water lake that is worth a visit.
